Sauvie Island Wildlife Area
They said the Sandhill cranes were nesting at Sauvie Island Wildlife Area. What fantastic birds they are, in flight, and in the marsh. I had to go see for myself.
I love to see them fly in, so I went in the evening, hoping to see them coming in to roost for the evening. They have a prehistoric squawk and a way of coming in for landing that looks more like they parachuted in than flying in.
Watching the clouds and the Sunset colors was an awesome offset to the cacophony of thousands of birds.
It’s a fantastic way to explore Nature!
